Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement an integrated communications and community engagement strategy aligned with EdTech East Africa’s mission and vision.
- Establish clear goals and metrics for success, ensuring that all communications and engagement initiatives deliver measurable impact.
- Serve as a brand ambassador, ensuring cohesive messaging and storytelling across all platforms and activities.
- Mentor the Community Engagement Coordinator and collaborate with relevant teams to drive alignment and maximize impact.
- Work closely with the PR Specialist to craft and execute high-impact campaigns, ensuring consistent and strategic messaging across all channels.
- EdTech Baraza (Online Community)
- Build and maintain a thriving digital platform that encourages collaboration, resource sharing, and active stakeholder participation.
- Implement strategies to grow membership, increase user engagement, and strengthen the community’s value proposition.
- Facilitate discussions, organize webinars, and create opportunities for thought leadership within the Baraza.
- EdTech Gumzo (Podcast)
- Set the strategic vision for the podcast, ensuring its topics, guests, and content resonate with the EdTech community.
- Oversee production schedules, episode planning, and quality assurance to maintain a professional and impactful program.
- Leverage analytics to track audience growth, engagement, and feedback, continuously refining the podcast’s approach.
- EdTech Jalada (Newsletter)
- Guide the newsletter’s editorial direction, curating compelling content that informs, inspires, and engages subscribers.
- Work with contributors to highlight impactful stories and trends in the EdTech space.
- Monitor performance metrics, using insights to optimize content and enhance subscriber experience.
- Social Media
- Define and execute a strategic vision for EdTech East Africa’s social media presence, leveraging data-driven insights to design creative campaigns.
- Ensure platforms are used effectively to expand reach, foster engagement, and drive meaningful conversations.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics to refine social media strategies and maximize ROI.
- Content Development & Storytelling
- Oversee the creation of high-quality content across formats (blogs, videos, social media) to position EdTech East Africa as a thought leader.
- Amplify success stories and insights from the EdTech ecosystem to inspire action and engagement.
- Partner with external organizations to co-create impactful content that supports shared goals.
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Track and analyze the effectiveness of communications and engagement activities, providing regular performance reports.
- Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
Qualification and Skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in communications, community engagement, or a related role, ideally in the EdTech or nonprofit sector.
- Proven track record of managing multi-channel communications and leading community-building initiatives.
Skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a strong aptitude for storytelling.
- Expertise in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation.
- Proficiency in analytics tools to measure and optimize performance (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights).
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking with a results-driven mindset.
